Can Man United Win Title Under Ten Hag?

Can Man United Win Title Under Ten Hag?

Erik ten Hag has had a successful first year at Old Trafford regardless of what happens from now until the end of the 2022-23 campaign. Can United build and be a Premier League title candidate next term?

Great First Season for Ten Hag

Man United may have missed out on the Premier League trophy this season, but can they be a force to be reckoned with next term? Rivals Manchester City are Premier League odds-on to win this season’s title at just -10000. As for Arsenal, you can get Premier League title odds of +5000 for the Gunners to lift the trophy.

Man United was never in the Premier League title race this term, but Ten Hag’s men have been in the top four pretty much all season. They still have work to do to secure a UEFA Champions League spot, but the Red Devils have put themselves in a great position. Claiming a top-four position would have been the aim at the start of the season.

United have had some dark times post-Sir Alex Ferguson, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Ten Hag had a better winning record after 50 games than any of the last ten United managers, including Ferguson. After 50 games played in April, the Dutchman had picked up an impressive 35 wins.

Man United Secures First Trophy for Six Years

Ten Hag has already had trophy success at Old Trafford. Man United went all the way in the EFL Cup to secure their first cup for six years. On their way to the final, the Manchester giants beat Aston Villa, Burnley and Charlton Athletic in the early rounds.

United came up against fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest in the last four. After a comfortable 3-0 win over Steve Cooper’s men at the City Ground, they won the second leg at Old Trafford 2-0 to go through with a 5-0 aggregate victory.

In-form Newcastle United was waiting in the final, and Man United made light work of Eddie Howe’s Magpies. Goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford gave ten Hag’s team a 2-0 triumph at Wembley Stadium.

Man United is back at Wembley for the FA Cup final in June. United will face rivals Man City in the showpiece event. If they can win a domestic cup double and secure a Champions League spot, it will be their best-ever season since the Ferguson era.

Will Red Devils Be Title Contenders?

Winning cups and playing in UEFA’s elite club competition is great and all, but Man United’s main ambition is to be the top dog in England once again. United have not been Premier League champions since Ferguson’s last season a decade ago.

Ten Hag has had one fine season to settle in at Old Trafford. The recruitment has been good, and the United players have adapted well to the new style of play. With a few new additions in the summer, Man United could be ready to challenge for the Premier League title in the 2023-24 campaign.
