Orlando Pirates will become South Africa’s first ever winners of the CAF Confederation Cup on Friday, 20 May – if bookmakers are to be believed!
The Buccaneers will take on Morocco’s RS Berkane in the final in Uyo, Nigeria.
Kick-off is at 21:00 (SA time).
The tournament is in its 19th season, but has yet to see a team from Mzansi inscribe their name on the trophy.
Orlando Pirates lost 2-1 on aggregate to Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in the final in 2015, while SuperSport United also fell short by the same aggregate scoreline against TP Mazembe in 2017.
RS Berkane were crowned champions as recently as 2020.
Leading South African bookmakers Hollywoodbets have installed Orlando Pirates as 13/20 favourites to lift the trophy – either after 90 minutes or after penalties.
RS Berkane can be backed at 12/10 to add a second title to their CV.
In terms of the score after 90 minutes, the Buccaneers are on offer at 13/10 to win in ‘normal’ time, while their Moroccan foes can be backed at 2/1.
The draw after 90 minutes is also available at 2/1.
