With the summer transfer window heating up, all eyes are on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, whose future suddenly looks uncertain.
Reports are swirling that the Saudi Pro League giants, Al-Hilal, are pushing hard for a big-money deal that could see Fernandes head to Riyadh — but time is running out.
Face-to-Face Talks Heat Up in Riyadh
On Thursday night, Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, met directly with Al-Hilal officials at the Four Seasons hotel in Riyadh.
These in-person talks reportedly stretched late into the evening, underscoring how serious the Saudi club is about landing the Portuguese star.
This came shortly after news broke on Monday that Al-Hilal had given Fernandes a firm deadline: decide within 72 hours whether to accept their “take it or leave it” offer.
A Jaw-Dropping Salary Offer on the Table
Al-Hilal is not holding back when it comes to the financials.
They are reportedly ready to boost Fernandes’ current £280,000-a-week wage to an eye-popping £700,000 tax-free each week.
This package, including bonuses, could push his total earnings close to £200 million over three years.
If Fernandes says yes, the Saudi club is prepared to draft a contract worth around £65 million per season and offer Manchester United a staggering £100 million transfer fee.
Manchester United’s Financial Pressure Is Mounting
Despite the temptation of such a lucrative deal, United insiders stress that the club is reluctant to let go of their talisman.
However, recent setbacks have intensified financial strain.
Losing the Europa League final to Tottenham was costly — not just for pride but financially too, with an estimated £100 million in lost Champions League revenue.
This leaves the club in a tricky spot, needing to balance ambition with sustainability.
Fernandes Opens Door to Possible Departure
In an unusually candid moment after the Europa League final, Bruno himself hinted at the possibility of being sold.
“If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in, it is what it is,” he said.
This admission only fuels speculation that a transfer could be on the cards, especially with Al-Hilal’s aggressive pursuit.
