Brooklyn man viewing apartments in NYC jumps to his death from high-rise near the United Nations

After requesting the agent to show him the balcony of an apartment near the United Nations building in New York City, a Brooklyn man plunged to his death from the 32nd story.

According to authorities, the 43-year-old man leaped from the United Nations Plaza’s two-bedroom unit 100 in the Turtle Bay district around 1:15 p.m.

The man ‘suddenly jumped’ a source told the New York Post after the broker lead him onto the balcony.

His body hit a third-floor patio during his fall, said police.

He was pronounced dead when police arrived.

A two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom apartment on the 32nd floor is advertised for sale for $2.9 million. The broker declined to comment when contacted by the DailyMail.com.

Corcoran, the real estate agency handling the sale, advertises the 1,985 square-foot unit as an ‘expansive home’ with two private balconies.

The apartment also boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, solid brass detailing, marble flooring and a separate formal dining room.

The master bedroom has a walk-in closet, a bathroom with a jacuzzi and the entrance of a second private balcony.

The death recalls another suicide last year when a 22-year-old woman fell to her death from the 16th floor after a fight with her boyfriend on January 29, 2012.

Samantha Kwek, a Columbia University student, had apparently wanted to break up with her boyfriend on the night she jumped.

She had sent several text messages to her boyfriend Benjamin Small before she died, according to the New York Post.

‘I really don’t know why [she jumped]. She was really, really sad, I guess… I’m mortified,’ he told the paper.

She landed on East 48th Street in front of 100 United Nations Plaza, a 52-storey building across the street from the Algerian Embassy.

A pocketbook was lying a few feet from her body, which was draped with a white sheet as police investigated.

Miss Kwek had threatened to kill herself in several text messages, the New York Post reported.
