A British lady was reportedly caught in Mexico attempting to enter the nation via Cancun airport with 10 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in bottles, packages, and other containers.

According to local sources, the lady, whose identity has not been made public, was detained by security personnel at Terminal 2 of the airport while travelling from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Mexico.

Authorities allegedly discovered the bottles and nine parcels after her baggage was scanned by an X-ray scanner.

The woman’s baggage wasn’t first searched; instead, another check led to the claimed discovery of narcotics there.

The Sun stated that 10 kilogrammes of what seemed to be cocaine were discovered when a search was conducted after a National Guard sniffer dog responded to her bag.

It’s been said that her empty bag’s weight raised red flags.

Additional research will be done by the Cancun attorney general’s office to ascertain the precise quantity and kind of drug.

The lady has been taken into custody by the neighbourhood law enforcement authorities and is scheduled to make her court appearance in the following weeks.

If found guilty, she may spend up to 10 years behind bars.
