British man stabbed at Oktoberfest in Germany is serious

A British man who was stabbed during the Oktoberfest in Germany is in critical condition.

The 35-year-old visitor was stabbed in Munich as the renowned event began on September 17 and is now in serious condition and in need of emergency surgery.

German police detained two 18-year-old males in the city today in relation to the stabbing.

The second youngster is being jailed on charges of aggravated robbery, while the first has been arrested on accusations of attempted murder.

Five residential buildings in Munich have been searched by police as part of their hunt for the weapon.

According to the German media site br.de, the stabbing is thought to have been related to an erroneous drug transaction.

The British man is said to have been stabbed in the upper torso after being robbed of hundreds of euros, the story says.

The two suspects are accused of robbing the alleged victim and fleeing the scene.
