Exciting events are on the horizon in Cape Town next month, as some of the most influential artists, athletes, musicians, and advocates gather for The Earthshot Prize.

This gathering aims to highlight inspiring environmental solutions that can help repair and regenerate our planet.

From November 4-7, Earthshot Week will take center stage, celebrating this year’s 15 finalists from around the globe while showcasing the remarkable climate innovations emerging across the African continent.

This is a unique opportunity to shine a light on the crucial work being done to address environmental challenges.

The Earthshot Prize Awards

The culmination of Earthshot Week will be the annual Earthshot Prize Awards on November 6.

During this special event, five of the 2024 finalists will each receive a £1 million award to enhance their impact and expedite the scaling of their solutions.

It’s a significant moment for these innovators who are striving to make a difference.

Nomzamo Mbatha, an actor, humanitarian, and Earthshot Global Ambassador, will host Earthshot Week.

She will be joined by Robert Irwin, an Australian conservationist and wildlife photographer, as they engage in thought leadership events and discussions.

This collaboration aims to connect current and former finalists with prominent environmental advocates who can help accelerate their initiatives.

An Evening of Celebration

The fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards promises to be a star-studded affair, hosted by the talented Billy Porter, who has won Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Awards, alongside renowned South African television presenter Bonang Matheba.

The evening will feature captivating storytelling and musical performances that celebrate the achievements of global environmental innovators and highlight the creativity thriving across Africa.

The broadcast will not only showcase the inspiring stories of the finalists and winners but will also include special performances by exciting musical artists from various regions in Africa and internationally.

Expect appearances from Grammy-nominated artist Davido, celebrated artist Diamond Platnumz, Tony Award nominee and Grammy winner Lebo M, and the internationally acclaimed Ndlovu Youth Choir, alongside DJ Uncle Waffles, who will keep the energy high.

Announcing the Winners

Adding to the excitement, well-known figures like supermodel Heidi Klum, actor and activist Nina Dobrev, multi-talented artist Tobe Nwigwe, and beauty entrepreneur Winnie Harlow will join the broadcast to announce the five Prize Winners.

These categories align with critical environmental goals we need to achieve in this decade: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate.

Bonang Matheba expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “It’s a privilege to co-host The Earthshot Prize Awards.

I am excited to celebrate these incredible innovators who are making a significant impact on our planet, as well as highlight the vibrant spirit, resilience, and unwavering commitment of environmental leaders across Africa and from around the world.”

Global Reach and Impact

The Earthshot Prize Awards will reach millions of viewers, broadcasting across 50 markets on the African continent.

A special live green carpet pre-show will be hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and rapper Moozlie, which will be streamed globally on The Earthshot Prize’s YouTube channel.

Founded by Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize has quickly established itself as a powerful global platform for identifying and promoting the best environmental solutions.

Since its inception, 60 environmental solutions have been honored as finalists and winners, with over 2,500 solutions submitted through a network of more than 400 Official Nominators.

The Prize has unlocked over £75 million in direct and in-kind support for these initiatives, with plans to continue expanding its capacity to drive investment and support for emerging solutions.

Both finalists and winners benefit from dedicated mentorship, resources, and technical support through the year-long Earthshot Prize Fellowship Programme.

This program connects them with a robust network of influential businesses, investors, and climate experts, ensuring that their innovative solutions receive the attention and resources they need to thrive.

What’s Next?

As Earthshot Week approaches, the anticipation grows for the innovative ideas and collaborations that will emerge from this gathering.

It’s not just a celebration; it’s a call to action for everyone to support environmental solutions that can create a more sustainable future for our planet.
