Video footage has recently revealed the unsettling words of a Kentucky woman, Tiffanie Ann Katherine Lucas, after the tragic murder of her two young sons.
Lucas, 32, received two consecutive life sentences for the cold-blooded shooting of her children, Maurice “Peanut” Baker Jr., 6, and his half-brother, Jayden Howard, 9, in Shepherdsville.
The footage, captured through a police bodycam, shows her bizarre and rambling responses when questioned about the murders.
Disturbing Justification for the Tragedy
When asked why she killed her sons, Lucas shockingly claimed that she loved them dearly.
“I love my children,” she said.
But her words quickly took a strange turn, as she explained her actions by blaming video games, Wi-Fi, and YouTube.
“I just felt like I was letting them play the video games and I wasn’t focusing how I was supposed to,” she confessed.
Lucas went on to claim that external forces, including technology, manipulated her mind and influenced her actions.
“Video games and the YouTube… it just messes their minds up,” she continued, expressing delusions that something or someone was controlling her through the internet and Wi-Fi.
A Lack of Remorse and Erratic Behavior
Throughout the questioning, Lucas seemed more fixated on the small details around her, such as a deputy’s finger movements.
She interrupted the officer, saying, “I’m watching you on camera move your fingers several times… It’s not right.”
Her erratic behavior continued as she insisted that she wasn’t crazy, even though her statements and actions suggested otherwise.
Later, she admitted to firing the fatal shots, though she still claimed the act was accidental, adding that she had been “manipulated” through social media and the internet.
The Tragic Events of November 8, 2023
The devastating event unfolded on November 8, 2023, when a neighbor of Lucas’s called 911 after she collapsed on their driveway, hysterically screaming that her children were dying.
Police arrived at the scene to find the two boys with fatal gunshot wounds to their heads.
According to neighbors, they heard four gunshots, which were later captured by a Ring camera.
Lucas told authorities that no one else had been home that day and that she had been given the gun.
She claimed the shooting was an accident but also suggested she had been influenced by external forces.
A Disturbing Online Persona
Before the murders, Lucas frequently posted on social media about her love for her children.
In one post from Valentine’s Day 2022, she wrote, “I love my babies every day of the year… I will always use any excuse to celebrate them.”
In another post, she described her children as “GOD SENT” and vowed to be the best mother she could be.
However, those close to her, including the boys’ stepmother, Michelle Rice, claim that Lucas’s online persona was an act.
Rice stated that Lucas’s social media posts were a facade, masking her true, troubled nature.
“She did things because she wanted people to see her as a certain way,” Rice explained, revealing that Lucas’s real life was far from the picture-perfect image she portrayed online.
Signs of Instability Before the Tragedy
Footage shown in court painted a disturbing picture of Lucas’s mental state just before the murders.
The day before, she and her sons were seen at a Waffle House, where staff recalled her acting erratically, as if she were in her own world and unable to process what was happening around her.
In a conversation with a neighbor, Lucas also claimed that God was speaking to her, further indicating her unstable mindset.
Despite her attempts to mount an insanity defense, Lucas pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in October 2024.
A Heartbreaking Loss
The loss of Jayden and Maurice has left their family devastated.
Durrell Howard, Jayden’s brother, expressed his heartbreak, saying, “We wanted them. We would have taken them with open arms. We loved them so much.”
The family continues to mourn the tragic deaths of the two boys, who were described as loving and cherished by those who knew them.
