Benjamin Mendy told police he was “shocked” to be detained for rape, according to court testimony.
Mendy, 28, was interviewed many times by police in relation to multiple rape and sexual assault allegations, the court heard.
In the twelfth week of their trial, the Premier League footballer and his friend and ‘fixer’ Louis Saha Matturie, 41, deny all charges.
The court heard that the football player made a number of prepared statements to detectives followed by ‘no comment’ interviews on the advice of his attorney.
Prosecutor Timothy Cray KC delivered Mendy’s prepared statement regarding the first of the young ladies he is accused of raping.
Benjamin Mendy, a 28-year-old player for Manchester City, denies seven counts of rape, one act of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault against six women.
The 24-year-old lady claims Mendy raped her three times in October 2020 at his residence The Spinney in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire.
Mendy stated in his testimony that he had been to a bar in Alderley Edge near his home with Matturie and others, where he met some girls who were invited back to his home.
While there, he observed a girl filming his residence with her phone, despite being warned not to do so.
Mendy stated to police, “I requested that she remove the tape.” She gave me her phone, which I then deleted.
“As I did so, a snapshot of her naked appeared on the screen. We agreed to go upstairs to my bedroom so she could show me more photographs of herself in a similar pose.
Mendy reported that she showed him further naked photographs in his bedroom, then removed her top and they began kissing.
Louis Saha Matturie, 41, a friend and “fixer” of Mendy, denies six counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault involving seven young women.
At Chester Crown Court, the trial of Benjamin Mendy and Louis Saha Matturie continues.
Mendy reported that the woman gave him oral sex and consented to “fool about” with him, but she did not wish to continue.
Later, she left with another woman, and he had sex with one of the 24-year-buddies old’s from the bar, who slept in his bed.
“I am startled to be accused of rape and false detention,” he told the detectives. All of our sexual encounters were fully consensual.
I did nothing to prevent her departure.
Mendy provided three further prepared statements to police in respect to distinct women he is claimed to have raped, in which he stated that the sex was consenting.
Against six young ladies, he is accused of seven charges of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault.
Matturie, of Eccles, Salford, denies seven counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
Both individuals claim that any sexual encounters with women or girls were consenting.
As alleged victims of sexual assault, none of the involved ladies can be recognized.
The trial was postponed till the morning of tomorrow.
