Beetlejuice 2 is set to release on September 6, 2024, with Brad Pitt’s Plan B as the producer and Alfred Gough and Miles Millar as the writers.
The film marks the return of Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz.
The rest of the cast includes Jenna Ortega, who previously worked with Tim Burton on the Netflix series Wednesday, and Justin Theroux, whose role is unknown.
There is not much information about the plot of Beetlejuice 2 as production only started on May 10.
The first film follows a married couple, Barbara and Adam Maitland, who try to haunt their home to drive out the unwelcome Deetz family, only to summon Beetlejuice, a “bio-exorcist,” who creates more problems than solutions.
The release date of Beetlejuice 2 was announced to be the same as Marvel’s Blade, but production on Blade has been suspended due to the writers’ strike.
This may lead to a change in the release date of Blade.
The existence of Beetlejuice 2 has been rumored since 2011, and it was acknowledged by Keaton and Burton in 2014 and 2017, respectively.
While there are no confirmed details about the sequel, the return of the original cast and the involvement of Burton and Plan B have generated excitement among fans.
