Bear Grylls’ Journey into Family History:
In the latest episode of BBC One’s Who Do You Think You Are?, renowned television personality and wilderness expert Bear Grylls delved into his family’s past.
Airing on June 15 as part of the show’s 20th series, the 49-year-old explored the lives of his grandfathers, Ted and Neville, as well as his great-grandfather Lionel.
During the hour-long program, Grylls also made a surprising discovery connecting his family to Scottish monarchy.
Introducing Shara Cannings Knight, Bear Grylls’ Wife:
Shara Cannings Knight, born in 1974, has been married to Bear Grylls since 2000, despite knowing each other for just two years prior to their wedding.
Knight is an author who has written two novels on the subject of marriage.
Her second book, Never Stop Holding Hands, was published six years after her debut work, Marriage Matters.
The inspiration for her second book came from a piece of advice given to her and Bear by an elderly couple on their wedding day.
Shara Cannings Knight’s Role and Philanthropy:
In addition to her writing, Knight dedicates her time to assisting Bear Grylls in charitable endeavors.
She actively supports and organizes fundraising events for various charitable organizations, working alongside her husband.
One organization she is involved with aims to inspire young people to overcome challenging obstacles in life.
The Serendipitous Meeting of Bear and Shara:
Bear Grylls and Shara Cannings Knight first crossed paths in Scotland, two months before Grylls, at the age of 23, became the youngest British climber to conquer Mount Everest on May 16, 1998.
Grylls humorously recounted the incident in a 2014 interview with Piers Morgan.
While Grylls was skinny-dipping, an unexpected rising tide washed away his clothes.
Knight’s initial encounter with her future husband involved witnessing him frantically searching for his trousers while being naked on the beach.
Despite the inconvenient timing, their connection eventually blossomed.
Their Three Sons and Family Life:
Bear Grylls and Shara Cannings Knight are proud parents to three sons.
Jesse, their firstborn, arrived in 2003, followed by Marmaduke in 2006 and Huckleberry in 2009.
The family resides in a luxury apartment situated within the redeveloped Battersea Power Station site, offering them a comfortable home base.
Beyond his thrilling adventures and survival expertise, Bear Grylls cherishes a fulfilling family life with his wife, Shara Cannings Knight, and their three sons.
While Knight supports her husband’s philanthropic endeavors and pursues her passion for writing, the couple remains dedicated to their family and finding joy in raising their children together.
