BBC Production Team receives Praises for Organising an Amazing Party at the Palace

The BBC production team behind Prince William’s Earthshot Prize Awards and Harry and Meghan’s wedding coverage has been praised for putting on a ‘phenomenal’ presentation to commemorate the Queen’s 70th year on the throne.

Organizers have been praised for the’magical’ and ‘phenomenal’ spectacle that thousands of people witnessed live from The Mall last night, with a peak of 13.4 million people watching on television.

Claire Popplewell, creative director for BBC Studios Events, and Mark Sidaway, executive producer for the BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace, were two of the primary organizers.

Ms. Popplewell has worked with BBC Studios for three years and eight months, following a multi-award-winning career as a director, executive producer, producer, and editor.

She has worked for the BBC for almost 27 years as a ceremonial events editor and executive producer.

She is currently in charge of all royal, ceremonial, and commemorative programming, and has produced global events such as Live 8, Nelson Mandela’s funeral, the international broadcast of Harry and Meghan’s wedding, D-Day 75, and, most recently, VE Day 75.

‘The BBC Ceremonial Events team has been at every important Royal landmark since The Queen’s coronation in 1953,’ she remarked ahead of the jubilee.

‘It’s been a difficult few months, but our long-standing ties with the Met Police, Royal Parks, and the Armed Forces have helped them to see our endless and often unusual requests in a positive light.’

A 360-degree view of the Horse Guards Parade was included.

Mr. Sidaway has worked as an executive producer for both NBC and ITV’s The X Factor for the past year and a half, before joining BBC Studios.

He also served as executive producer for the first-ever Earthshot Prize Oscars Ceremony, which will take place on October 17, 2021 at Alexandra Palace, and for which his team won a BAFTA for Best Live Event at the awards last month.
