Barbados has honoured music star, Rihanna, with the prestigious National Hero of Barbados award.
The president of Barbados, Dame Sandra Mason presented the award-winning music star with the Award.
While presenting the award, the president showered accolades on her for all her achievements.
“On behalf of a grateful nation but an even prouder people, we present to the national hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
May you continue to shine like a diamond as you bring honour to your nation by your words, by your action, God bless you, my dear,” she said.
Rihanna is the 11th National Hero of Barbados.
She is the second woman to ever receive the honour.
The Award comes just as Barbados declared itself the world’s newest republic, having removed Queen Elizabeth II as its Head of State.
