Awoniyi’s ends 2021 with another win

Taiwo Awoniyi and his German club FC Union Berlin ended 2021 on a high with a 1-0 away win over VFL BOCHUM 1848 in the German Bundesliga.

Max Kruse fired the winner on 16 minutes to send the Capital club to sixth position on the log.

Although the 24-year old did not score, his forward combination with Sheraldo Becker kept the home side on the backfoot for the entire match.

Bochum tried to change things in the second half, but Union managed the game with consummate professionalism.

They kept the ball, running down the clock to the frustration of the home support.

A final win of 2021 keeps up the pressure on the Bundesliga’s top six as the Bundesliga goes into vacation mode for the next few weeks.

Awoniyi can look back at 2021 with satisfaction as he has scored 9 goals in 17 appearances this season alone.
