Magala’s absence is the only change to the Proteas’ ODI squad which beat India 3-0 in January.

In that series Magala struggled, taking just two wickets in the two matches (second and third ODI) he played.

He went for close to 7.4 runs per over.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed Magala had failed a fitness test on Tuesday, without specifying what test he had failed to meet requirements.

Magala has struggled with his fitness in the past.
