Anthony Rapp was not molested by Kevin Spacey in 1986, jury determines

Tuesday, a jury determined that Kevin Spacey did not molest fellow actor Anthony Rapp in the 1980s, bringing to a close a civil trial for sexual misconduct that sprang out of the #MeToo movement.

After deliberating whether to trust Rapp’s accusations that he was psychologically traumatized after Spacey made a sexual approach on him in 1986 when he was 14 years old, jurors in the Manhattan federal court civil trial reached their conclusion. Both were relatively obscure Broadway performers.

Spacey testified that the incident did not occur, and he was certain of it.

The 2017 allegations by Rapp and others abruptly ended Spacey’s career as a two-time Academy Award winner.
