Who is Anjli Mohindra?
Anjli was born in London, England, on 20 February 1990 – her zodiac sign is Pisces, and she holds British nationality. She’s an actress with close to 50 credits to her name, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Nadia in the 2018 crime thriller mini-series “Bodyguard”. It was created by Jed Mercurio, also starred Richard Madden, Sophie Rundle and Vincent Franklin, and follows the people working at London’s Metropolitan Police Service; the mini-series won 14 of the 44 awards for which it was nominated, including two Primetime Emmy nominations.
Early life and education
Anjli was raised in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire by her Indian parents Bob and Sandi Mohindra; only a little about them is known, as Anjli respects their privacy, and it’s said that her father is the owner of his own small business, and that her mother is working at it. Because Anjli hasn’t spoken of having any siblings, most of her fans believe her to be an only child.

Anjli studied at Jesse Gray Primary School, and grew up being interested in acting, so when she was 13 years old her parents began taking her to auditions. She made her debut TV series appearance in a 2005 episode of the long-running soapie “Coronation Street”, and then went on to act throughout her entire education.
Anjli studied at West Bridgford School from which she matriculated in 2008, and she then studied acting at both the Carlton Workshops and Nottingham Central Junior Television Workshop.
Roles in TV series
Anjli played Charlotte’s Friend in the 2008 episode “Girlfriend” of the critically acclaimed comedy “The Inbetweeners”, and in 2009 she appeared in the episode “Love and Loss” of the mystery crime drama “Law & Order: UK”.
Between 2008 and 2011, Anjli portrayed Rani Chandra in 41 episode of the action adventure drama “The Sarah Jane Adventure”, created by Russell T. Davies, and which starred Elisabeth Sladen, Daniel Anthony and Alexander Armstrong. It follows the journalist Sarah Jane Smith who’s fighting evil aliens with the help of her friends and family; the series won one of the five awards for which it was nominated. Anjli was then invited to appear in an episode or two of various series, such as the drama “Doctors”, the drama “Casualty” and the romantic drama “Coming Up”.
In 2015, Anjli was cast to star as Veronica Chandra in the drama mini-series “Cucumber”; it also starred Vincent Franklin and Julie Hesmondhalgh, and follows the lives of several gay men in Manchester. The mini-series won three of the eight awards for which it was nominated, including a BAFTA Film nomination.
Three of Anjli’s most recent roles in TV series, all in 2022, have been in the thriller drama “The Suspect”, the science fiction thriller “The Peripheral”, and the fantasy thriller “Extinction”.
Roles in movies
Anjli made her debut film appearance in the 2009 short science fiction comedy “The Sarah Jane Adventures: Comic Relief Special”, then in 2011, she starred in the short romantic comedy “Swagger Wars”, written and directed by Nigel Morgan, and which also starred Saif Al-Warith and Dan Amin. It follows a former boyfriend and girlfriend who are still in love with each other.
A couple of Anjli’s following roles were in the 2012 short mystery drama “The Black Scholes Conspiracy”, the 2013 short adventure comedy “The Painter and the Thief” and the 2015 drama “National Theatre Live: Behind the Beautiful Forevers”. Also in 2015, she played Kira in the popular romantic comedy drama “Miss You Already’, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and which also starred Drew Barrymore, Toni Collette and Dominic Cooper.
It follows the two girls’ friendship which has been put to the test now that one has started a family, and the other has fallen ill; the movie was nominated for a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for Best Music Supervision for Film Budgeted Under 5 Million Dollars.
Three of Anjli’s most recent film roles have been in the historical drama “National Theatre Live: Dara”, and the short drama “Farewell, Sarah Jane” both in 2020, and the 2021 biographical historical drama “Munich: The Edge of War”.
Anjli has been featured in a number of documentaries, including the 2011 short film “My Sarah Jane: A Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen”, and in 2012 the video “Goodbye Bannerman Road: Remembering Elisabeth Sladen” and the series “12 Again”.

Anjli voiced Maya in the 2015 video game “Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below” and the 2016 game “Dragon Quest Heroes II”, and in 2022 she voiced Millicent in the video game “Elden Ring”.
Anjli has made a guest appearance in a number of talk-shows, including “Blue Peter”, “Hacker Time” and “Lorraine”.
Awards and nominations
Anjli and her colleagues were nominated for a 2016 Behind the Voice Actors Video Game – Voice Acting Award for Best Vocal Ensemble in a Video Game, for their performance in “Doragon Kuesuto Hîrôzu: Yamiryuu to Sekaiju no Shiro”.

Anjli prefers to keep the details of her love life away from the media’s attention, but has still allowed her fans to have a glimpse into it.
Between 2008 and 2012, Anjli was in a relationship with the British actor Tommy Knight who has appeared in more than 30 movies and TV series, and whom she met on the set of “The Sarah Jane Adventures”. There were rumors circulating the internet, claiming that the two were planning to marry, but if true nothing came of it.
In 2014, Anjli spent a couple of months dating Hamza Jeetooa, a popular British actor and moviemaker.

Anjli loves plants, and has her own small garden.
She’s into travelling, and her acting career has taken her to a couple of European countries and US states, while her dream travel destination is Sydney, Australia.

He’s appeared in more than 50 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for his portrayal of Orlo in the critically acclaimed biographical comedy series “The Great”, created by Tony McNamara, and which stars Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and Phoebe Fox.
It has been airing since 2020, and follows a royal woman who has married an Emperor in 18th century Russia; the series has won nine of the 52 awards for which it has been nominated, including two Primetime Emmy nominations.
