Angelina Jolie Visits Egypt-Gaza Border to Meet Injured Palestinians and Humanitarian Workers Delivering Aid

Angelina Jolie has once again put herself on the front lines of humanitarian work, traveling to the Egypt-Gaza border to meet with injured Palestinians and the workers delivering much-needed aid.

The 50-year-old Hollywood star, known for her decades of activism, spent time speaking to Red Crescent volunteers and drivers transporting supplies to the conflict-stricken region.

Local reports indicate Jolie’s visit focused on Palestinians who had been medically evacuated from Gaza to Egypt.

She also took the opportunity to assess how aid deliveries are reaching people in the devastated territory, sharing her observations with local media at the Rafah crossing.

A Continuation of Her Global Humanitarian Missions

This trip comes just two months after Jolie was spotted in Kherson, Ukraine, another area plagued by conflict.

Kherson has been targeted by Russian forces since 2022, and during her visit, Jolie toured hospitals, including a maternity ward and a children’s hospital, drawing attention to the civilians living amid ongoing attacks.

Photos shared online by former city council member Vitaliy Bohdanov showed Jolie in body armor marked with the Legacy of War Foundation logo, a charity that supports war-affected communities.

Other images captured her playing with children in hospital playrooms, bringing a human touch to her protective presence.

Facing Danger to Help Others

The conditions in Kherson remain perilous, with near-daily strikes continuing.

A children’s hospital was hit on October 29, injuring nine people, highlighting the risks Jolie accepted during her humanitarian visits.

Her history with the United Nations Refugee Agency spans over two decades.

Jolie served as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador from 2001 to 2012, and then as Special Envoy until 2022.

During that time, she undertook more than 60 field missions, meeting displaced families and advocating for refugee rights around the world.

Supporting Ukraine Since the Start of the War

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Jolie has been deeply involved in relief efforts there.

She visited Lviv to meet children injured in the Kramatorsk train station missile strike and spoke with families displaced by the conflict at the railway station, sometimes taking shelter under air raid sirens.

Later in 2022, she traveled to Rome to visit Ukrainian child refugees at the Bambino Gesu pediatric hospital near the Vatican.

These children were part of the over two million who fled Ukraine, with another 2.5 million displaced internally, according to UNICEF.

Speaking Out for Refugees

Jolie has not shied away from using her platform to raise awareness.

In February 2022, she shared a heartfelt Instagram post about the war in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of protecting displaced people and upholding human rights.

“Like many of you, I’m praying for the people in Ukraine,” she wrote.

“My focus, along with my @refugees colleagues, is to ensure that everything possible is done to protect the displaced and uphold their basic human rights.”

Recognition for Decades of Humanitarian Work

Her dedication has not gone unnoticed.

In 2013, Jolie was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, recognizing her lifelong commitment to humanitarian causes.

Even after stepping down as UNHCR Special Envoy in 2022 to concentrate on broader issues, she continues to return to conflict zones, demonstrating a rare blend of celebrity influence and hands-on activism.
