Andy Dick Reveals He Smoked Crack Before Apparent Overdose on the Streets of Hollywood

Comedian Andy Dick has spoken publicly for the first time about his frightening incident on the streets of Hollywood, revealing in a new video that he had smoked crack cocaine before being found slumped over.

The 59-year-old actor, known for NewsRadio and Zoolander, appeared groggy and slurring his words while recounting the events.

Confusion and Admission on Camera

In the video shared on Wednesday, Dick initially seemed confused by questions about the shocking photos circulating online.

But soon, he admitted to using drugs with a man he met on the street.

“I don’t mind doing a little crack every now and then,” he said, defending his actions.

Dick appeared in a disheveled black suit, untucked shirt, and matching tie, sipping from a small glass while answering questions.

“Doesn’t it look like I’m 100 percent fine?” he joked in a groggy voice, later correcting himself to “110 percent,” with a sly smile.

Friends Confirm Narcan Was Administered

Two men who were with Dick at the time of the incident confirmed that Narcan, a medication that reverses opioid overdoses, had been administered.

It’s important to note, however, that Narcan does not reverse cocaine effects, though fentanyl—a powerful opioid sometimes mixed with other drugs—can be smoked in a similar way.

Dick’s friends described the events leading up to the scare, explaining that their day with him took a sudden turn when he “got away for a few minutes” and “did something that messed him up.”

They emphasized that it was a group effort that helped save him.

Police and Fire Department Respond

The Los Angeles Police Department and Fire Department confirmed that they responded to a medical emergency near the intersection of Highland and Yucca at a 7-Eleven at 3:14 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dick, however, was not taken to a hospital and was reportedly “taken home by a friend.”

The authorities withheld names due to privacy regulations.

Compassion for a Stranger

Dick explained that during the incident, he had encountered a man on the street who shared that he was depressed and had children.

Feeling empathy, Dick spent time sitting with the man, which ultimately contributed to the chain of events leading to the overdose scare.

Public Reaction and Ongoing Concerns

While the Daily Mail has reached out to Dick’s representatives for comment, no official statement has been provided.

Fans and observers have expressed concern online, noting Dick’s long history of substance struggles and legal troubles.

The video shows a mix of vulnerability and bravado as Dick recounts the day, highlighting both the dangers of drug use and the chaotic nature of the events.

Despite the scare, he maintains a wry sense of humor while reflecting on what happened.

The Bigger Picture

This incident is a reminder of the persistent challenges that public figures with a history of substance use face.

Andy Dick’s openness in discussing his actions offers insight into both the risks involved and the human side of dealing with addiction in a public spotlight.
