Andre Arendse weighs in on the Sipho Mbule saga at SuperSport United

Mbule was and still is suspended by Matsatsantsa for being ‘disrespectful’ towards his teammates and the club, and chances of him playing this season are very slim.

The star midfielder is currently in the final months of his original deal with SuperSport United who have until the end of May to trigger an option to renew it.

Mbule is wanted by both Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, but it’s unclear, at this stage, if the latest stunts that led to his suspension have anything to do with him trying to force a move away from SuperSport United.

Now, asked about Mbule’s situation at SuperSport United, Arendse was rather cagey in his response, saying the situation is currently being handled at the management level.

Arendse said he is not going to focus on the Mbule saga during his tenure as interim coach, adding that he intends to focus on the task at hand.

And that is to ensure that the Tshwane outfit finishes in the top eight, before revealing that the Mbule saga will sort itself out.

“I think Sipho Mbule is a case that is being handled by the management of the club and I’d like to keep it that way,” Arendse told the media.

“Those things have been well-documented, and I think that’s something the club will guide me on. I have to place my focus on what’s real to me at the moment.

“Every single player inside that dressing room right now is real to me. I have to place my focus on them, and [the] Sipho Mbule [saga] will sort itself out.”
