AmaZulu’s post-Benni McCarthy era begins with a DRAW

Usuthu were already eliminated from their first ever CAF Champions League appearance before kick-off after three defeats in five matches.

Horoya AC took the lead just before half-time when Dramane Nikiema took advantage of some slack defending to bury his chance.

AmaZulu drew level in the second half through an own goal by Horoya AC defender Salif Coulibaly, who deflected the ball into own net after he tried to clear a shot from Thabo Qalinge.

AmaZulu will next play Baroka FC

Usuthu, who recently parted ways with coach Benni McCarthy, can take some positives from their debut CAF Champions League campaign as they earned seven points from the six group stages.

They will next be in action on Wednesday, 6 April when they travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium to play bottom of the table Baroka FC in a DStv Premiership clash.

Kick-off is at 17:00.

AmaZulu are currently ninth in the standings with just seven matches remaining.
