Four alleged kidnappers have been arrested near Cape Town.

The arrests follow the disappearance of a 31-year-old businessman in Du Noon, Milnerton earlier this week.

Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, says the men, who are also facing charges of extortion, allegedly took the victim from his store in McClaren Drive by force and sped off in a getaway vehicle.

He says they are expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court soon.

“The suspects contacted the relatives [of the victim] demanding a ransom in exchange for the victim’s freedom. The investigating team pursued all information at their disposal in a bid to locate to victim. On Wednesday, the team descended on a residence in Winnie Mandela Road in N2 Gateway, Langa, where they found the victim in the bedroom. Four suspects between the ages of 22 and 26 were arrested and detained,” explains Swartbooi.
