Alexander Isak dismisses Newcastle contract speculation as he focuses on Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley

Alexander Isak isn’t letting speculation about his future distract him from the present.

With Newcastle United still in the thick of their campaign, the Swedish striker has made it clear that contract discussions will have to wait until summer.

While his current deal runs for another three years, his rising status among the world’s top strikers and interest from other clubs have fueled talks of an improved contract.

However, whether Newcastle can meet his expectations—or if he even wants a new deal—remains uncertain.

A key factor will be whether the club secures Champions League qualification.

Open to Talks, But Not Focused on Them Yet

When asked about the possibility of signing a new contract, the 25-year-old kept things open-ended but non-committal.

“Yeah, yeah. I think I’ve said, I’m not really thinking about the summer,” he admitted.

“But yeah, that’ll probably be a talking point once the season is finished. We will really see, because no talks have been held yet.”

Ambition Aligned with Newcastle’s Vision

Isak’s immediate focus is on Newcastle’s success on the pitch.

Speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, he emphasized that his decision to join the club was driven by ambition.

“I mean, that’s why I came here,” he explained.

“As I have said many times, I don’t really look too much or think too much about my future. I am happy here, and we are contenders for titles, which is what you want to win as a football player.”

Newcastle has already reached one final and is now on the verge of another major opportunity, reinforcing Isak’s belief that the club is on the right path.

Focus on Winning Silverware

With a chance to lift a trophy this season, Isak is fully locked in on helping his team succeed.

“This club can achieve great things,” he said.

“I think we should really look at it one season at a time, and this season we can achieve winning a trophy, which would be amazing for everyone.”

As for his future, Isak remains adamant that it’s not on his mind.

“I’ve said many times during a season, just focus on the job, and now is probably the worst time to think about anything else.

So, all of our focus is just on Sunday and yeah, doing good and hopefully bringing the trophy back to Newcastle.”

Ready for the Challenge Against Liverpool

With 22 goals this season, Isak is expected to be a key figure in Newcastle’s attack against Liverpool at Wembley.

The challenge of facing Virgil van Dijk doesn’t faze him, though.

“I wouldn’t say I fear anyone,” he stated.

“I have a lot of respect for the players that I come up against and a lot of respect for Van Dijk and their whole defense.”

However, he remains focused on his own performance rather than individual battles.

“I’m a player who always just focuses on myself. If I do the right things, if I play my best game, then I think I’ll benefit my team.

It’s not really a duel of me against one player—it’s Newcastle against Liverpool.

It’s a team sport. So, it comes down to what we do as a team. And I’ll obviously try to use my qualities to make us better.”

What’s Next for Isak?

For now, the striker’s attention is solely on Newcastle’s ambitions for the season.

Whether he extends his stay at St. James’ Park remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—his immediate goal is to help his team bring home silverware.
