After falling 30 meters down a mountainside, a young boy is in the hospital with significant head and spinal injuries.

The small child tumbled down the rocky embankment while climbing Table Top Mountain in Queensland’s Toowoomba region at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, prompting the need for rescue helicopters.

Officers from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and the Fire and Emergency Service scaled the mountain, but they were unable to move him due to the tough terrain.

Dramatic video captures the moment a RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter team from Toowoomba finds the hurt youngster and descends to him.

The youngster was treated for head and spinal injuries by a flight paramedic from LifeFlight and a critical care physician.

The youngster, who was in first grade, was strapped on a stretcher and hoisted into the helicopter before being flown 125 kilometers to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The boy’s condition is reported to be critical.
