AFCON: Super Eagles Beat Pharaohs Of Egypt 1 – 0

Super Eagles started the 2022 African Cup of Nations competition yesterday on a good note by defeating the Pharaohs of Egypt by a lone goal.

The opening match of the two countries placed in group D started at 5:pm with Kelechi Iheanacho putting Nigeria ahead in the 30thminute of the game, with a shot into the top-left corner of the goal post.

The Leicester City’s star scored the brilliant goal through an assist from Taiwo Awoniyi.

Super Eagles dominated the first half of the game, silencing Egypt’s main man, Mohamed Salah.

Ahmed Hegazy of Egypt took the first free-kick in the first minute of the game.

In the 25th minute, Moses Simon missed an opportunity, hitting the side net.

Awoniyi narrowly scored the Super Eagles’ second goal in the 37th and 41st minutes but was stopped by Egypt’s goalkeeper, El Shenawy.
