For the first time in her life, actress Tamzin Outhwaite has expressed that she’s truly content with being single.
After ending her six-year relationship with Tom Child earlier this summer, Outhwaite, 53, is focusing on herself and enjoying her newfound independence.
The pair, who first met at a yoga class in 2017, had a 20-year age gap, but Outhwaite seems at peace with their separation.
Reflecting on Life Experience and Self-Love
Speaking candidly to The Mirror, Outhwaite shared how her current single status feels different from previous breakups. “I’m quite happy,” she said.
“Being single and happy is a really lovely place to be. And that can only happen with life experience.”
Her message of self-love and the importance of one’s relationship with oneself is one she hopes will resonate with others facing similar challenges.
“The most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself,” she emphasized, reflecting on how, with age, she has grown to appreciate her own company more.
A Different Kind of Breakup
Outhwaite has opened up about how this split feels less painful compared to her divorce from actor Tom Ellis, with whom she shares two daughters, Flo, 16, and Marnie, 12.
Ellis, now remarried and living in the U.S., famously left Outhwaite in 2014 after allegedly having an affair with Australian actress Emile de Ravin.
Despite the heartache, Outhwaite seems to have moved past the turmoil and found strength in her journey through life’s ups and downs.
Channeling Life’s Challenges Into Work
Currently starring in the Channel 5 drama The Wives, Outhwaite plays Sylvie, a character navigating her own divorce.
The role feels particularly fitting, considering the personal experiences Outhwaite has faced.
Her co-stars, Angela Griffin and Jo Joyner, play her on-screen ex-sisters-in-law, adding a layer of friendship and support both on and off screen.
Marking a Decade Since Her Divorce
Earlier this year, Outhwaite made headlines after reflecting on the ten-year anniversary of her split from Ellis.
In a now-deleted tweet, she acknowledged the lingering pain from their breakup but also shared her sense of triumph in overcoming that difficult period.
“Ten years since the father of my kids walked out on us for the final time,” she wrote, expressing gratitude for where she is now.
Though she later took down the tweet, Outhwaite clarified that her post was meant to celebrate her strength and resilience rather than dwell on past betrayals.
Moving Forward with Pride
While Outhwaite has previously hinted that there was more to the breakdown of her marriage than just a single affair, she has always remained mindful of her children when discussing her personal life.
She has said she will one day tell them the full story but wants to protect their relationship with their father for now.
Looking back on the challenges, Outhwaite seems to have embraced her journey with pride and looks forward to the future with a clear mind and a full heart.
As for what’s next, Outhwaite is focusing on her career and personal growth, proving that life after heartache can be filled with happiness and fulfillment.
