Liver transplants are often necessary for those whose liver has been severely damaged by alcohol abuse, hepatitis, or liver disease.
After such a transplant, patients are advised to abstain from alcohol, though it’s unclear whether complications related to her transplant played a role in her death.
Her last public outing was a visit to Sartiano’s restaurant in SoHo, New York, just the Thursday before her passing.
This final appearance raised concerns among some who noticed her frail appearance in recent photos.
