Chanel Maya Banks, a 36-year-old actress known for her roles in Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, has mysteriously disappeared from her Los Angeles home.
Her family, including her mother Judy Singh and cousin Danielle-Tori Singh, have flown to California in a desperate bid to find her.
However, they claim that Chanel’s husband is not cooperating with the police or the search efforts.
A Sudden Disappearance
Chanel had been living in an apartment in Playa Vista with her husband, whom she married just over a year ago.
However, her family became concerned when they lost contact with her for several days—a drastic change since Chanel typically stays in regular communication with them.
When they checked her apartment, they found her dog and car still there, but her phone and laptop were missing.
Danielle-Tori Singh shared her distress with ABC7 News, revealing that five days without hearing from her cousin was a huge red flag.
“She doesn’t go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom,” Danielle explained.
“That girl is more like a big sister to me.”
Family’s Struggle to Get Answers
The family’s worries deepened when they learned that Chanel’s husband was not cooperating with the police.
Danielle said her cousin’s husband had been actively removing missing person flyers from posts and cars.
“He’s not willing to help LAPD. He’s not willing to help me or her mom find her,” she stated.
Despite their efforts, the police have not been able to locate Chanel, and they’ve performed multiple welfare checks at the apartment, finding no trace of her.
Chanel’s last text was sent on October 30, and after that, her phone went silent.
Growing Concerns Over Husband’s Behavior
Chanel’s mother and cousin have both expressed concerns about her husband’s behavior.
On November 10, they noticed that he had injuries, including a busted lip and marks on his neck and arms.
This was a stark contrast to his appearance just days earlier when the police performed a welfare check.
Danielle said, “We asked him where Chanel is, and all he says is ‘She does not want to be found.’”
The police have investigated the situation but have not yet considered her husband a suspect in any foul play.
Authorities have stated that they need evidence or probable cause to make an arrest, but for now, the search continues without clear answers.
The Family’s Ongoing Search
Determined not to leave California without her cousin, Danielle has been putting up flyers in the neighborhood, and both she and Judy have been staying in Los Angeles to continue the search.
Danielle’s emotional plea on social media read, “We just want to know you’re okay and that you’re safe.”
To support their search efforts, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover the cost of a private investigator and living expenses.
As of Tuesday, the fund has raised around $3,000, with a goal of $20,000.
The family is urging anyone with information to come forward, saying that Chanel would never disappear without contacting her loved ones.
“Chanel has no family or friends here and would NEVER go somewhere without telling her mom,” Danielle wrote. “Please help us find my cousin.”
As the search continues, the family remains hopeful for her safe return.
