Abducted lady fears a drug addict will be released after killing a judge’s daughter

After killing a judge’s daughter, a drug addict abducted a lady, and she expressed her concern that the “monster” may soon be released.

When Nicholas Burton held Debbie Vangerko at knifepoint for 11 hours in 1997, she was 17 years old.

The daughter of a district judge, Rachel McGrath, 27, was fatally stabbed hours earlier by the ‘very dangerous’ drug user when she waited in a pub parking lot in Bramhall, Cheshire, to pick up her boyfriend.

They only managed to live when they stopped for gas in Caernarfon, North Wales, and Miss Vangerko, who had been abducted from a neighbouring street, was able to flee.

Burton, who is now 51, eventually said he had intended to rape Miss Vangerko, kill her, and locate a third victim.

She has now been informed by probation authorities that Burton is almost ready to be released.

In her first interview since going through her trauma, Miss Vangerko, 43, criticised the Parole Board, which is presently under review by the government, calling it “not fit for purpose.”

She argued that it was time for victims’ rights to take priority over offenders’ rights.

Burton received three life sentences after being found guilty of Miss McGrath’s murder, as well as the kidnapping, false imprisonment, and threat to kill Miss Vangerko.

No Home Secretary is ever likely to permit his parole, according to Mr. Justice Morland, who called him “a profoundly dangerous guy who will imperil the lives of women forever.”

Despite this, a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison was eventually determined, without the knowledge of Miss Vangerko or Miss McGrath’s family, and it was finally completed earlier this year after the time spent prior to his trial.

A distraught Miss Vangerko added, “I’m afraid.” “I believed he would never emerge.”

No deterrence exists. We shouldn’t let these creatures out.
