She recounted on The Therapy Crouch podcast, “It was such a serious injury… I ended up in hospital because of a broken nail! It sounds insane, and I was mortified.”

After the initial shock and blood loss, Abbey’s condition became worse, and she found herself desperately seeking relief.
The pain was so intense that it left her awake all night.
“I was crying from 11pm to 7am, trying to cool my hand under hot and cold water.
It was unbearable,” Abbey shared.
At 3am, after Abbey and Peter had called the hotel reception in hopes of getting some basic painkillers, a doctor arrived.
However, they couldn’t offer her any over-the-counter remedies like paracetamol or ibuprofen.
So, the doctor had to hook her up to a drip to manage the pain.
“It sounds so ridiculous, but it was honestly the worst pain I’ve ever felt,” Abbey admitted.
Eventually, at 8am, her friend Lucinda took her to the hospital, where a kind doctor gave her a nerve blocker injection that finally numbed the pain.
A Humorous Response from Peter
The next day, Peter Crouch, Abbey’s husband, couldn’t help but laugh at the surreal nature of the situation when he shared the details with his golf buddies.
“I had to tell the lads I couldn’t make it to golf because Abbey was in the hospital.
They were all like, ‘What happened?’ And I had to tell them, ‘She’s broken a nail!’”
His friends were clearly in disbelief, but Peter wasn’t exaggerating.
Abbey’s injury was so severe that even the doctor had to confirm that only a nerve blocker could ease her pain.

But there was also a cheeky bathroom selfie featuring Abbey in a daring cream dress—a look that was both stunning and a little playful.
Peter’s Oops Moment: The Forgotten Gift
In true Crouch fashion, however, Peter’s birthday planning wasn’t without a little hiccup.
The week before their Paris trip, he accidentally left behind a pricey gift for Abbey on the London Underground.
The gift was from Jessica McCormack, a luxury jeweller in Mayfair, and likely contained something extravagant.
The lost item didn’t go unnoticed. A fellow Tube passenger spotted the abandoned bag and, realizing its significance, reached out to the couple on Instagram.
Abbey’s response? “Oh my God, it’s my birthday tomorrow.
Must have been my present.” The bag was safely returned, but it added a funny twist to an otherwise perfect birthday surprise.
