This afternoon, a woman was shot twice during a robbery on Tottenham Road in Riet River, KZN (Monday).

The victim and her brother were walking home from work when a silver vehicle (model and registration unknown) pulled alongside them. A passenger got out and pulled out a gun. He demanded that the victims hand over their cellphones. He shot the woman in the left ankle and right thigh after she told him she didn’t have a cellphone with her. The woman attempted to flee but collapsed a few metres away. The suspect re-entered the vehicle, which sped away to an unknown direction.

At approximately 20:33, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance.

RUSA Medics and Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and discovered the victim on the side of the road. She was treated for her injuries before being transported by ambulance to the hospital. Two used 9mm cartridges were found.

Her brother suffered no injuries.
