Olympic cyclist Mark Cavendish and his wife Peta were robbed, a guy has revealed.

At Chelmsford Crown Court, 28-year-old Ali Sesay entered a guilty plea to robbing Mark Cavendish of a watch, phone, and safe as well as the athlete’s wife of a watch, phone, and bag.

The defendant, who is from Rainham in east London, first denied the two allegations but afterwards modified his plea to guilty.

At at 2.35 am on November 27 of last year, Cavendish and his wife received a threat at their home in the Essex neighbourhood of Ongar.

Although no one was seriously hurt, according to Essex Police, Cavendish claimed in a statement that his family was “very disturbed” and “feared for their lives.”

A Louis Vuitton luggage and two expensive watches, according to the police, were taken.

Two additional defendants will go on trial on January 3; Romario Henry, 31, and Oludewa Okorosobo, 28, each deny two charges of robbery.

Okorosobo of Camberwell in south London and Henry of Lewisham in south-east London are both being held without bail.

Sesay was remanded in jail by Judge Mary Loram QC, who informed him that his sentence will be postponed pending the results of the trials of the other two accused.

The defendant, who had a beard and was connected to the court through video connection from HMP Thameside, said: “No issue, thank you.”
