The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation and The Prince of Wales will start a scholarship program in honor of the ambitious architect who was slain in a racist assault.

The one-year diploma program’s specifics will be revealed by Stephen’s mother, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, in a special 40th anniversary issue of The Voice, the black national newspaper, which the Prince has guest-edited.

The heir to the throne has often honored the kid who shared Charles’s passion for building and was killed in 1993 while waiting for a bus.

The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation and The Prince of Wales will start a scholarship program in honor of the life of the aspirant architect who was slain in a racial assault.

The Prince summoned Baroness Lawrence to Dumfries House in Scotland in April to talk about the potential collaboration between his organizations and her foundation.

In an interview with The Voice, Stephen’s mother discusses how the scholarships would support students from all socioeconomic backgrounds as they pursue the Prince’s Foundation certificate, which will allow them to pursue a university degree in architecture, design, fashion, or applied arts.

The newspaper’s September 1 issue will also include an interview with actor Idris Elba, who discusses how receiving a Prince’s Trust grant when he was 16 “opened doors that transformed my life.”
