In accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments, the Home Secretary has also consented to re-appoint Jonathan Hoyle, the existing independent Chair, for a third term of three years beginning on May 1, 2021.
The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act of 2000 created the TAB, a non-departmental public agency whose mandate was widened by the Investigatory Powers Act of 2016.
The TAB’s two primary responsibilities are:
to provide guidance to the Secretary of State in the event that a telecoms operator (TO) requests a review of a notice by taking into account both the technical requirements and the financial implications.
