At least three homes were damaged by a tornado that unexpectedly touched down in Nebraska

A tornado that unexpectedly touched down in Nebraska early Monday, lofting debris into the air and leaving a trail of destruction in its wake, damaged at least three homes.

According to weather authorities, the tornado hit just outside Grand Island at 12:55 am.

The cyclone, which was unpredictably caused by a line of severe storms that swept across the southwest and central part of the state, damaged a number of homes in Hall County.

Multiple towns within the city’s boundaries lost power as a result of the tornado, which was reportedly so strong that radar-detectable debris was launched into the air by the tornado.

Pictures document some of the harm done to homes by the unanticipated whirlwind.

Early damage assessment reveals that the tornado that struck Hall County tonight south of Husker Highway and east of South Locust caused damage to 3 homes. After the tornado passed, the agency tweeted that there were no injuries.

According to officials, there are also downed power lines in the area, and the extent of the damage is still being determined.

Some of the homes damaged by the tornado early on Monday are visible in photos; at least one house, between A and B road on Third Road, appears to have been completely destroyed.

Photos demonstrate that another home at 978 W. Schimmer Drive also sustained damage from the storm, which also caused trees to fall and a fence to be torn down.

The storm, which also resulted in downed powerlines along Highway 34 and Gunbarrel Road, and which also left debris all over the road, destroyed a farm between Stuhr and Gunbarrel roads.

According to officials, the storm also caused damage to another house on S. Locust St.

As of early Monday morning, the Hastings National Weather Service is evaluating the damages. No injuries have been reported thus far.
