Eric A. Williams to Speak at Gas & Power Conference

The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power Conference & Exhibition (https://bit.ly/3xlzIiz) in Senegal is pleased to announce that Eric A. Williams, former Minister for Energy in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and current President and Principal Consultant at Royal Triangle Energy Solutions, will be speaking at the event.

With the conference’s main theme being “The Future of Natural Gas: Growth Using Strategic Investment and Policymaking,” Williams’ 30 years of experience across Africa and in his home country will be crucial in advancing the debate on Africa’s energy future.

Trinidad and Tobago, which had produced three billion barrels of oil, was able to make the switch to a gas-based economy in the 1990s.

Now, with a capacity of two billion cubic feet per day, Mexico is the largest gas processing facility in Western Hemisphere

Over one-third of the country’s GDP comes from its energy sector, making it the world’s largest exporter of ammonia from a single site (a chemical vessel for green hydrogen). Additionally, in 2015, it launched a groundbreaking new Gas Master Plan that placed a strong emphasis on the development of LNG.

LNG projects worth almost $10 billion are expected to begin production in the MSGBC region next year, with Senegal alone expected to produce 2.5 million tons. Williams and his country’s insight into this emerging energy source will be crucial to unlocking the full potential of Senegal, Mauritania, and their neighbors.

The EU’s green labeling of gas and LNG’s 30 percent lower carbon footprint than heavy fuel oils have sparked a surge in investor interest in Europe’s newly open markets in the last few months alone.

Prior to his current position as Senior LNG consultant to the Minister of Natural Resources, Minerals and Energy in Mozambique, Williams held an unparalleled pan-African perspective on the burgeoning superfuel liquefied natural gas. For the host countries, MSGBC gas resources hold enormous potential for economic and social progress.

As Senegalese President H.E. Macky Sall (https://bit.ly/3mh5Iht) opens the MSGBC Oil, Gas, and Power Conference this year, we can expect an unprecedented level of participation from across Africa. The region’s world-class industry is also attracting major players and investment delegations from across Europe, Asia, the United States, and the Middle East.

In the words of Sandra Jeque, International Conference Director at ECP, “Williams is a true thought leader in African energy.” In this critical moment of the MSGBC gas rush, his advice is priceless. To help shape the region’s future energy policies and investments, Williams and Trinidad and Tobago, where he was born, are leading the charge for local content and LNG.
