A unusual thing occurred during a televised battle over the weekend, leaving the boxing community astonished.

Simiso Buthelezi, a lightweight boxer, is seeking medical treatment after punching thin air in the final round of his most recent fight, seconds before winning.

Buthelezi was regarded to be comfortably beating Siphesihle Mntungwa late in the 10th and final round of his WBF African lightweight title battle against Siphesihle Mntungwa until his opponent slipped under the ropes in a surprise turn of events.

Mntungwa regained his balance and was ready to restart the fight when Buthelezi looked to lose his bearings.

The fighter’s first instinct was to charge forward as if the referee were his target, then move into the corner and hurl fists like he was shadow boxing.

The referee immediately recognized that something was wrong and stopped the fight.

According to sources on social media, Buthelezi is currently in stable condition.
