6-year old British boy drowns in swimming pool in Majorca

A six-year-old British kid died in a swimming pool near the Love Island residence in Majorca, according to reports.

On Sunday afternoon, the kid drowned in the pool of an unnamed hotel in the Sa Coma resort.
He was staying at the hotel with his family, about a 20-minute drive from the Love Island villa in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar.

Around 5.30 p.m., the alarm went off. According to local sources, his parents had lost sight of him for a few minutes before spotting him in the pool.

Attempts to resuscitate him on the spot were unsuccessful.

The boy was reportedly from Northern Ireland, according to island tabloids. The police could not be reached for comment this morning.

The tragedy follows the death of a British toddler in a swimming pool accident on the Costa Blanca last month.

On May 25, Freddie Joseph Briggs drowned in his parents’ pool at Aigues, near Benidorm, prompting the local council to declare three days of mourning.

Marc Briggs, known to friends as Briggsy and presumed to be from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, and his Belfast-born mother Jane Mohan had recently relocated to the Costa Blanca.

At his funeral service, which was performed at a church in Belfast where he was baptised before being buried in a neighboring cemetery, tributes were made to the 19-month-old youngster.

Father Thomas McGlynn told mourners at the service the youngster brought happiness to those around him and enjoyed his short life ‘to the very full.’
