A convicted sex offender has vanished from an open prison in Lincolnshire, and police are looking for him.

Gary Butcher, 55, walked out of HMP North Sea Camp in Boston shortly after 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to police.

Butcher is characterized as a Caucasian dude with a stocky frame, brown/grey hair, and blue eyes who is serving a life term for aggravated burglary.

On his right arm, he has a swallow tattoo, and on his left arm, he has a ‘Phillip-Trina’ tattoo.

Lincolnshire Police said he may have travelled to the Leicestershire area and have released a mugshot.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Paul Coleman, said: ”We are appealing for help to locate Gary Butcher who was reported missing from North Sea Camp this morning.

‘If you have any information to his current whereabouts, please contact us immediately.

‘If you do see him, please do not approach him and instead, call us on 101 quoting incident 37 of 31st May and if it’s an emergency, dial 999.’

Earlier this year, Paul Robson, 56, fled from the same prison despite being given two life sentences in August 2000 after he broke into a 23-year-old woman’s house in Oxford through a cat flap and sexually assaulted her while holding a knife to her throat.

He was sentenced to a minimum of nine years but has spent 20 years behind bars and only moved to an open prison in February 2021 after five parole hearings.

Robson was serving a life sentence for attempted rape and indecent assault.
