Two left seriously injured in Umhlanga crash

Two people were left with serious injuries following a motor vehicle collision on Umhlanga Rocks Drive near the Sunningdale area in Durban in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Paramedics had to use Jaws-of-life to cut one of the patients free.

Emer-G-Med paramedics reportedly  arrived on the scene to find a male patient entrapped in the wreckage of his vehicle. Rescue technicians from Metro Police used the Jaws-of-life to cut the man free.

“Once free he and another were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care by Emer-G-Med under the care of an Emergency Care Practitioner.”

Meanwhile, on Friday, a female motorist aged approximately twenty five years old was left with moderate injuries following a collision on the M4 Ruth First Highway near the Umgeni River Bridge.

She was treated and stabilised on scene by Emergency Care Technicians before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.

MULTIPLE INJURED IN DURBAN IN TAXI CRASH

A number of passengers were injured after a minibus taxi they travelled crashed on North Coast Road in Durban on Thursday, 12 May.

According to Emer-G-Med, paramedics responded to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on North Coast Road in the Avoca area north of Durban.

“Reports from the scene are that a minibus taxi which was fully loaded with passengers careened off the roadway rolling down an embankment before coming to a rest.

“Several commuters were left with injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to nearby hospitals for further medical care they required.”
