They never would harm humans unless attacked, and no diver would attack an octopus.

They can grow up to 30 feet across and 600 pounds. Average big one is 130 pounds and 8 feet across.

They are much stronger pound for pound then humans. Imagine being attacked by an 8 foot skinny chimp with 8 arms.
