Celine Dion’s loved ones are helpless in the face of her excruciating case of Stiff Person Syndrome.

The singer’s sister has said that the family can do little to aid Celine Dion in her fight against Stiff Person Syndrome.

The singer of “My Heart Will Go On” announced in December that she had been diagnosed with the terminal neurological illness, canceling her upcoming tour dates as a result.

The 55-year-old singer then cancelled the rest of her world tour in May, stating she was “working really hard to build back my strength” and “not giving up.”
Claudette, her sister, claimed in a recent interview, “she’s doing everything to recover.” She’s a powerful woman, yet those spasms are out of her control, as she herself admitted to Hello! Canada.

The immunological and neurological illness known as Stiff Person Syndrome causes a person’s torso and limbs to become stiff and immobile. Dion’s singing and performing have been impacted by symptoms such as body stiffness and muscular spasms.

Approximately twice as many women as males are affected by this condition, and it is often linked to other autoimmune disorders like vitiligo, thyroiditis, and diabetes.

While the exact origin of this condition is unknown, studies have pointed to a flawed immunological response in the brain or spinal cord as a possible contributor.

While the Covid-19 pandemic forced Dion to postpone the remaining 52 North American dates of her global tour in March 2020, she also had to cancel and reschedule the February 2019 dates of her European tour.
She had complained that the spasms were interfering with “her daily life” and making it difficult for her to move about and speak clearly.
