Foreign Secretary Engages with West African Leaders Amidst Niger’s Political Crisis

The British Government has announced the suspension of long-term aid to Niger in response to a recent military coup.

The 15-nation bloc, on its part, suspended relations with Niger and authorized the use of military force if the deposed president, Mohamed Bazoum, is not reinstated within a week.

Consequently, long-term development assistance to Niger is suspended, but the UK will continue providing essential humanitarian aid to the people of Niger during this critical time.
