Orlando Pirates drop points at Baroka to lose ground in second place race

Orlando Pirates dropped two valuable points in the race for a second place finish as they played to a 0-0 draw away to Baroka on Tuesday night.

The game wasn’t short of goalscoring opportunities but neither side could find the back of the net even after 11 minutes was added at the end of 90 minutes.

There were two highlights that stole the limelight on the night – and the two incidents took place very late in the game.

The first one was the delay that happened with less than 15 minutes to go as the game had to stopped after a failure with the floodlights.

Then came a horrible injury to Paseka Mako who collided with his own goalkeeper Richard Ofori in the dying minutes of the game.

The game had to be stopped as Mako received medical attention and later rushed to hospital by an ambulance due to the injury suffered during the collision.

It was an emotional end to the game, and the referee blew his whistle immediately after the restart of play as players were not going to be able to cope after the trauma.

Ultimately, both Baroka and Pirates settled for a share of the spoils, and the result wasn’t enough for Bucs to move above Kaizer Chiefs on the log as they could only move up to fourth.

Baroka, on the other hand, remained at the bottom of the log with just 18 points from the 26 games they have played so far.
