The Council members who met at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia made their position known through a six-point communiqué issued at the end of their meeting.
Government House, Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Chairman of the Council and former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku who Presented the communique said that the meeting would be the last under Governor Obiano’s government and thanked him for the privilege of appointing them to serve the state .
Commenting on the aftermath of the November election, the Council congratulated the Governor, Professor Soludo and others for winning the election, describing it as an outstanding victory, as well as law enforcement agencies, INEC and all those who contributed to achieving a peaceful election.
Chief Anyaoku, extolled the remarkable legacies by the Governor, pointing out that Anambra is fortunate because it an administration with admirable legacies is transfering to another promising government that would bring new dawn under the incoming administration of Professor Soludo.
The elders among other things advised traditional rulers of various communities and Presidents General, as well as religious leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that the youth imbibe the right values and avoid destructive vices as part of measures to tackle insecurity.
Earlier, while thanking the elders for the advice and support which has aided his administration in many ways, the Governor recalled the vision and mission statements of his administration which he said he has lived and worked with.
He noted that today, Anambra is an oil producing state with fifteen wells, which he said gave him the confidence that the next thirteen percent derivation will come to the state.
He recounted some of the achievements his administration recorded in agriculture including current rice production capacity of over 500,000 metric tonnes and dry season farming, among others, as well as advancements in the education sector.
The Governor added that his administration successfully completed one hundred and thirty seven roads, twenty bridges, airport project built in fifteen months, among others, expressing confidence in the ability of the Governor-Elect to do more when he comes onboard.
