In a heartwarming demonstration of generosity and community spirit, Concert for Change has announced that it has raised more than N200 million to support orphanages and organisations catering to children with disabilities across Nigeria.

Wale Adenuga, the convener, made the announcement during a cheque presentation to five selected beneficiaries of the 2025 Green Worship concert.

Each of the five charities received N11 million, marking a significant boost to their operations and outreach.

The recipients included the Comrade David Ofoeyeno School for Special Children in Warri, Marvellous Foundation Orphans Care Centre in Minna, Super Parent Foundation in Lagos, Hope Orphanage in Akure, and the Learning Disabilities Society of Nigeria in Uyo.

Adenuga emphasised that the initiative is about more than money; it reflects a shared commitment to improving lives and giving children the opportunities they deserve.

Supporting Charities Nationwide

“Concert for Change remains committed to raising awareness and funding for charities that care for orphans and children with disabilities,” Adenuga said.

“Together with these five charities, we have now supported 49 organisations nationwide.”

Adenuga highlighted the programme’s dedication to transparency and accountability.

Beneficiaries are required to sign commitment forms, and funds are released in stages tied to specific project milestones.

This ensures that the support has measurable impact and helps charities achieve their objectives responsibly.

Immediate Impact on Beneficiaries

The donations are already making a tangible difference.

The Super Parent Foundation is investing in assistive devices for children with special needs, while another organisation is using the funds to acquire a school bus.

For many recipients, this represents the largest financial support they have ever received, providing crucial resources to sustain and expand their work.

Representatives of the charities expressed their gratitude and shared how the support will enhance their efforts.

The Comrade David Ofoeyeno School emphasised the importance of nurturing talents among children with autism, Down syndrome, and other learning challenges.

Super Parent Foundation underlined the holistic approach, offering support to both children and their families.

Hope Orphanage described the donation as unprecedented, and the Learning Disabilities Society revealed it was their first external funding in seven years.

Officials Highlight Collective Effort

Officials praised the initiative as a model of collective action.

Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs General Manager Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal noted that assistive devices could transform the lives of children with disabilities, improving mobility and quality of life while positively affecting entire families.

Concert for Change, formerly known as Worship for Change, organises Green Worship concerts annually to raise funds and awareness for charities supporting orphans and children with special needs.

The events feature performances from some of Nigeria’s top gospel artistes, creating a platform for both celebration and social impact.

What’s Next?

Looking forward, Concert for Change aims to continue expanding its reach, supporting more organisations across the country.

The initiative plans to monitor the impact of current donations closely, ensuring that funds are used effectively to enhance facilities, provide specialised equipment, and empower children and families.

Further Green Worship concerts are already being planned to sustain momentum, engage more communities, and inspire continued generosity across Nigeria.

Summary

Concert for Change has raised over N200 million to support orphanages and organisations serving children with disabilities, with each of five charities receiving N11 million from the 2025 Green Worship concert.

The funds are helping beneficiaries meet immediate needs, such as purchasing assistive devices and acquiring school transport, while also promoting transparency and accountability.

The initiative now supports 49 organisations nationwide, reflecting a shared commitment to improving lives, and plans are underway to continue expanding its impact across Nigeria.
