A video resurfacing from 2022 has reignited debates about Brooklyn Beckham and his budding career as a chef.
The clip, showing him behind the wheel of a £1 million McLaren while claiming to be a chef, has gone viral again this week, with social media users quick to weigh in.
Some critics accused Brooklyn of “cosplaying as a self-made chef,” while others poked fun at the contrast between his high-end lifestyle and his culinary ambitions.
In the video, 23-year-old Brooklyn was approached by TikTok star Daniel Mac while cruising around Los Angeles in his red McLaren P1.
Daniel asked what he did for a living, to which Brooklyn replied, “I’m a chef.”
When teased about whether he was the best chef in the world, Brooklyn modestly responded, “Trying to be.”
His advice to aspiring cooks was simple: “Just follow your passion. Whatever makes you happy, just keep doing it.”
Fans quickly flooded the comments as the clip recirculated, with one writing, “Nothing says ‘humble chef’ like arriving in a McLaren,” and another quipping, “What do you do for a living? My dad is David Beckham.”
Family Fallout Deepens Amid Brooklyn’s Statement
The resurfaced clip coincides with Brooklyn’s explosive statement earlier this week, in which he announced he has cut ties with his parents, Sir David and Victoria Beckham.
“I’m not being controlled; I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he said, citing long-standing family tensions.
Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz have avoided all major family events recently, including David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebration and knighthood.
He explained that life with his wife has brought him peace after years of crippling anxiety, while his parents’ focus on public image and brand promotion left him feeling controlled.
“My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first,” Brooklyn stated.
He added that family love seemed conditional, based on social media posts or willingness to participate in public family photo ops.
Wedding Day Grievances and Trademark Battles
Brooklyn’s statement also referenced tensions surrounding his wedding to Nicola.
He claimed Victoria Beckham acted inappropriately during the event, “dancing on him” and interfering with the first dance, and even pulled out of designing Nicola’s dress at the last minute.
While accounts vary, Brooklyn insisted these incidents left him humiliated.
Adding fuel to the fire, Brooklyn addressed a longstanding trademark issue over his name.
Documents show Victoria registered the trademark to Brooklyn Beckham in 2016, covering items from cosmetics and clothing to TV shows and music.
Brooklyn claims he was pressured to sign away rights before his wedding, which would have impacted him, Nicola, and future children.
While some insiders describe the request as standard to protect the family brand, Brooklyn reportedly rejected it and has since removed all personal advisers, relying solely on the Peltz legal team.
Brand Beckham Under Pressure
Experts have warned that Brooklyn’s public outburst could affect the iconic “Brand Beckham,” traditionally associated with family unity, professionalism, and warmth.
PR and brand expert Mark Borkowski suggested the feud has created an “existential crisis” for the family business.
He added that the Peltz family, known for their business acumen, could leverage Brooklyn’s brand in the U.S., similar to how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle built their Windsor brand.
This raises concerns for the Beckham family, who may lose some control over how Brooklyn’s name is used commercially.
“This is a real soap opera for the Beckhams,” Borkowski concluded.
“How they recover from this will be an ongoing conversation.”
Brooklyn and Nicola Prioritize Privacy
Amid all the drama, Brooklyn and Nicola emphasize that they want a life removed from public scrutiny.
“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation.
All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family,” he stated.
Despite Victoria reportedly being “devastated” by the fallout, Brooklyn maintains his stance, insisting he is no longer a “mama’s boy” and is finally in control of his own life.
