President Tinubu Orders Full Investigation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the murder of Fatima Abubakar and her six children in the Chiranci community of Kano.

Reacting to the tragedy, the President strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a barbaric act that has no place in society.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep sympathy to the grieving family and assured Nigerians that justice would be pursued without delay.

Praise for Police Swift Response

Alongside his condemnation, President Tinubu commended the Nigeria Police Force for moving quickly to apprehend key suspects linked to the crime.

He also instructed all relevant security agencies to ensure that investigations are thorough and that those responsible face diligent prosecution.

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that acts of extreme violence would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

What Happened in Dorayi Chiranci

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday at Dorayi Chiranci Quarters in Kano, where seven people — a 35-year-old woman and her six children — were attacked in their home.

According to reports, suspected hoodlums forcefully entered the residence and inflicted fatal injuries on the victims using dangerous weapons.

The victims were later identified as Fatima Abubakar and her children, whose lives were cut short in the violent home invasion.

Police Detail Emergency Response

Confirming the incident, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the command received a distress call around 12:10 p.m. on January 17, alerting them to an attack on the household of one Haruna Bashir.

Following the call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately deployed a team of officers to the scene.

The response team was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Mani.

Hospital Confirms Victims Dead

Upon arrival, the police evacuated the victims to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano.

Sadly, medical personnel at the facility confirmed that all seven victims had succumbed to their injuries.

Arrests Made as Investigation Deepens

As investigations progressed, the Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of three principal suspects connected to the killings.

CSP Kiyawa disclosed that the arrests followed coordinated, intelligence-led operations conducted between the night of January 17 and the early hours of Sunday, January 18, 2026.

The arrests were carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and under the supervision of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

Security Agencies Vow Justice

According to the police, the suspects are believed to be central figures behind the gruesome attack.

Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that more details will be made available as the case develops.
