Wellington Management is stepping up its game in the private investing world with a strategic hire aimed at strengthening its secondary investment capabilities.
The firm recently announced that Alex Behm will join as Head of Secondaries for the Venture Growth Evergreen Private Investing platform, reflecting its commitment to expanding its evergreen investment offerings.
Driving Secondary Investments Forward
In his new role, Behm will focus on developing and managing secondary investment strategies within the Venture Growth Evergreen platform.
He will work closely with Wellington’s existing direct private investment team to source and execute a range of secondary transactions, including direct, GP-led, and LP-led secondaries.
The goal of the platform is to offer investors enhanced liquidity, diversification across vintage years, and access to high-quality venture and growth-stage assets.
Behm will collaborate with Mike Trihy, who recently joined Wellington to lead the expansion of the firm’s evergreen private investing initiatives, ensuring the platform’s growth is aligned with Wellington’s broader investment strategy.
A Seasoned Leader in Secondaries
Behm brings more than 11 years of experience in secondaries investing.
Before joining Wellington, he served as a Deal Lead on the Secondaries team at Hamilton Lane, where he was responsible for sourcing deal flow and negotiating transactions with general partners, limited partners, and brokers.
Earlier in his career, he worked as an analyst at Butcher’s Hill Capital, honing his skills in private investing.
