Gary Neville Warns That Manchester United Signing Benjamin Sesko Is Nowhere Near Match Fit After Draw Against Fulham in West London

Manchester United’s new £74million signing, Benjamin Sesko, is facing a challenging start to life at Old Trafford.

The Slovenian forward, who joined from RB Leipzig to boost the Red Devils’ attacking options, has yet to find his rhythm in the Premier League.

Following a 1-1 draw against Fulham on Sunday, former United defender Gary Neville shared his concerns on his podcast, saying Sesko is “nowhere near up to speed” and needs more game time to reach his potential.

Neville Urges United to Give Sesko Minutes

Neville noted that there has been a lot of excitement around Sesko, with fans eager to see him start matches immediately.

However, the young striker has been limited to substitute appearances in both the opening fixture against Arsenal and the draw at Craven Cottage.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, he said:

“Amorim is going to have to get Sesko in against Grimsby and give him 90 minutes so that he can be played from the start against Burnley next Saturday because you can see he needs football.”

Neville stressed that a player of Sesko’s value and potential shouldn’t be left on the bench for too long, despite the challenge of keeping Mason Mount in the starting lineup.

Tactical Concerns Against Fulham

Neville also highlighted some tactical choices during the Fulham game.

When Sesko came on and Mount shifted into midfield, Casemiro was taken off, and United appeared vulnerable, allowing Fulham more opportunities to attack.

He added that late changes in the back line, with Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw substituted with just five minutes remaining, seemed unusual.

“You don’t want to be changing that back line if you can help it,” Neville noted.

United Still Searching for a Win

With the draw against Fulham, United remain winless in the Premier League after their opening defeat to Arsenal.

The Red Devils are looking to get their first victory of the season in the upcoming Carabao Cup third-round tie against Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.

They will then return to Premier League action on Saturday when Burnley visit Old Trafford, giving Sesko another chance to impress and start building momentum in English football.
